What is NEBOSH IGC Course?
In the health and safety arena, the NEBOSH IGC stands out as the most trusted health and safety qualification and a globally recognized certification. Designed in consultation with world’s leading employers and health and safety professionals, this qualification focuses on core skills in health and safety practices with a pragmatic mix of theory and practical.
This qualification enables learners to ‘know and do’ effective health and safety in every kind of workplace.
Know: This course empowers learners to:
- Effectively manage health and safety
- Identify and control common workplace hazards
- Measure the success of implemented measures
- Align with relevant international standards (ISO 45001, ILO-OSH2001, ILO Code of Practice, HSG245, ISO 12100)
Do: Risk assessment forms the central part of this qualification. Through project submission activity, learner gains comprehensive insights to:
- Confidently carry out risk assessments
- Develop and implement a detailed action plan
- Manage and minimise workplace risks
- Support and develop their company’s health and safety culture
What is NEBOSH Scenario-Based Examination?
Most NEBOSH certificate-level qualifications now include a scenario-based examination. This examination format enables learners to take the exam in their preferred location, usually at home or another safe and suitable place where they can concentrate. The learner will be given 24 hours to complete the scenario-based examination.
In a scenario-based examination, learners will be presented with a scenario that describes a realistic workplace and situation. They will then be asked to carry out a series of tasks using evidence presented in the scenario. In addition, learners can expect questions that ask: What? Could? How? Why? and Where? The purpose of these questions is to encourage learners to demonstrate their analytical, evaluative, creative and critical thinking skills, and to apply the knowledge they have gained through their studies and revision while writing the answers.
In this scenario-based examination, learners can use resources such as notes, textbooks, learning materials, external references and resources. Any materials used should also be correctly referenced. However, the purpose of this scenario-based examination is to educate the learner; simply cutting, copying, and pasting will not provide a good answer and is also time-consuming. Proper understanding is the ideal way to clear the exam with ease. This is what the NEBOSH scenario-based examination is designed for.
After this examination, a closing interview will be conducted by an interviewer from NIST. Questions will be based on the answers that were written in the scenario-based examination.
