Manual Handling Safety training

Manual Handling Safety training is a practical, skills-focused course that helps employees move materials safely and efficiently, reducing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), near- misses, and productivity loss. Designed for shop floors, warehouses, construction sites, healthcare, and facilities, the programme covers lifting, lowering, carrying, and pushing/pulling tasks using relatable India-based scenarios and jobs. Participants learn how poor technique, awkward postures, and rushed work increases the risk and how simple, consistent habits prevent injuries.

Manual Handling Safety training

Participants will acquire a step-by-step method to assess and perform tasks using the TILEE approach (Task, Individual, Load, Environment, Equipment), correct lifting and team-lift techniques, and smart use of mechanical aids. The course also addresses load shaping and route planning, workstation and storage ergonomics, handling bulky/unstable items, and practical micro-break strategies. Further to it pre-lift checklist, dynamic risk assessment card, and point-of-work guidance posters supporting alignment with Indian workplace safety requirements and measurable reductions in manual-handling incidents.

Why Should Employers Invest in this Training?

  • Minimize MSD injuries & lost time, fewer back/shoulder strains and slips translate into lower medical claims, compensation costs, and production disruptions.
  • Increase throughput & quality, efficient lifting, carrying, and use of mechanical aids reduce rework, product damage, and micro-stoppages.
  • Meet Legal requirements through Factories Act & Rules, BOCW, and client EHS requirements; aligns with ISO 45001 ergonomics and risk control.
  • Standardise safe methods across sites Common TILEE assessments, pre-lift checklists, and supervisor coaching create consistent practice for employees and contractors.
  • Reduce absenteeism & attrition by Proactive ergonomics and early-symptom reporting improve wellbeing, shorten recovery, and help retain skilled workers.
  • Be part of a Strong Safety Culture: Contribute to a workplace where safety is a shared responsibility and everyone looks out for one another.

Training Objective

By the end of this course, participants will be able to perform point-of-work manual handling risk assessments using the TILEE method, plan tasks and select appropriate controls and mechanical aids then execute safe techniques for lifting, lowering, carrying, and pushing/pulling (neutral spine, power zone, stable footing) including effective team-lift communication .Further to it set up ergonomic storage and workstations, manage bulky/unstable/fragile loads safely; apply pre-lift checklists and dynamic risk assessment cards, recognise and report early MSD symptoms, and document compliant practices aligned with Factories Act & Rules 1947 and ISO 45001 resulting in fewer injuries, reduced damage, and improved productivity.

How Will This Training Strengthen Workforce Readiness?

On successful completion of the Manual Handling Safety Training course, the participants will gain frontline capability to move materials safely, consistently, and efficiently.

  • Builds a Foundation of Safety Awareness instils point-of-work risk assessment (TILEE) and ergonomic habits across crews.
  • Reduces Workplace Accidents by educating employees on risks related to lowers strains, slips, and crush injuries via correct lifting/carrying and use of mechanical aids
  • Enhances Productivity & Material Flow, via route planning, load shaping, and right tool selection cut micro-stoppages and rework safety.
  • Lowers MSDs & Lost-Time Injuries where neutral spine, power-zone handling, micro- breaks, and early symptom are reported earlier to prevent injuries in future.
  • Boosts Employee Confidence and Morale Employees feel secure and valued, knowing roles (lift captain/spotter) make team lifts predictable and safe.
  • Increased Compliance and Reduces Legal Risks, Aligns with the Factories Act & Rules, BOCW (where applicable), and ISO 45001 documentation.

FAQ's

1. What is the safe weight limit for lifting?

Rather than a single fixed number, we teach a risk-based approach. Follow your company policy; triggers for team lifts or mechanical aids typically lower for awkward, frequent, or long-reach lifts

2. Who should attend this training?

Frontline operators, warehouse/logistics staff, construction crews, facilities/housekeeping teams, healthcare support staff, supervisors/team leads, and contractors working on client sites.

3. Do you cover pushing vs. pulling?

Yes. We emphasise controlled pushing where feasible (better body mechanics and visibility), with guidance for safe pulling when pushing isn’t possible.

4. How do we measure impact after training?

Track manual-handling observations, MSD symptom reports, near-misses, damage events, and lost-time days. We provide a simple KPI tracker to help you baseline and review quarterly.

5.Is the training available in local languages?

Training available in standard language English and can be delivered in other regional language based on availability.
