About LEEA
The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) was founded in 1944 and is internationally known as the foremost trade association pertaining to the lifting industry professionals. It facilitates excellence and sustainable growth in the global lifting and safety industry. LEEA also endeavours to educate, influence and empower the industry so that best practices are made standard practices.
Course Overview
The Lifting & Rigging course is a comprehensive 2-day program designed to build strong foundations in safe lifting practices, proper rigging techniques, and regulatory compliance.
The first day focuses on interactive theoretical learning, and it exposes the participants to the issues of legal requirements and duties relating to safe lifting, industry best practices based on LEEA Standards, and other ideas. There is a solid understanding of lifting terminology, risk-based working, and adherence to compliance regulations in daily operations. The session also includes equipment selection, sling types, and rigging hardware, ensuring that the participants can make informed decisions regarding safe lifting activities.
The second day of the course is about practical solutions, and it offers a direct hands-on training experience in a controlled yard or workplace environment. The participants train in choosing the slings, calculating loads and sling angles, and conducting pre-use checking of the rigging equipment. The trainees acquire skills to plan simple lifts, practice trial lifts with supervision, and use tag lines to control loads safely. This practical experience reinforces their capacity to transfer the theoretical knowledge into the field of practical application and improve communication, coordination and hazard-consciousness during lifting operations.
