Process Safety Management training

Process Safety Management (PSM) is a specialized training program designed in order to build the knowledge and capabilities required to manage hazardous processes in high-risk industries. The course includes introduction to the foundations of PSM, emphasizing the critical role of process safety leadership, the importance of organizational learning, and the necessity of incident/accident investigations to prevent recurrence. Participants will learn regarding safety culture shaping by leadership involvement and will gain exposure to essential process safety information that supports decision-making and risk control across operations.

Process Safety Management training

Further, the course delves into the management of process risks, covering the establishment of a robust Process Safety Management System (PSMS) and its key elements. Learners will have deep understanding on Management of Change (MOC) architecture to ensure safe transitions in processes and how asset integrity, performance standards, and safety-critical equipment contribute to risk mitigation. The training also explains furthermore the significance of maintaining a safe operating envelope, the purpose and types of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the development of an effective Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

Why Should Employers Invest in this Training?

  • Prevent Catastrophic Incidents empowers teams to recognize and control hazards, helping prevent high-impact events like fires, explosions, and toxic releases that could result in fatalities, damage, or shutdowns.
  • Ensure Legal & Regulatory Compliance by aligning with global and Indian statutory requirements (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, OISD guidelines), reducing the risk of legal liabilities, penalties, and reputational harm.
  • Minimize Operational reliability by better maintenance of safety-critical equipment, adherence to safe operating limits, and more effective emergency responses—leading to minimal downtime.
  • Build a Strong Safety Culture by reinforcing leadership accountability and builds a safety-first mind set across all levels, promoting proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Cost Savings from Incident avoidance investing in preventive training is significantly more economical than bearing the financial and reputational losses from major incidents, investigations, or insurance hikes.

Training Objective

The objective of this training is to equip participants with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to identify, assess, and control hazards associated with processes involving hazardous chemicals and operations. The course aims to build competency in implementing key PSM elements such as process hazard analysis (PHA), mechanical integrity, management of change (MoC), and emergency preparedness. It also focuses on enhancing regulatory compliance with standards like OSHA 1910.119 and aligning with global best practices. By the end of the training, participants will be capable of contributing to the design, execution, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive process safety management system that minimizes the risk of major incidents and ensures the safety of people, assets, and the environment.
